Hiragana, cut-out paper, buttons and felt. Animals,
insects and flowers. Fantasy and reality. Light and dark.
A myriad of influences and ingredients combine in the
delicate, intricate works of Japanese artist Maki Hamada.

Having been raised in Fukuoka, on the island of Kyūshū,
Maki is currently based in UK. She studied at Camberwell
College of Arts in London and then at Edinburgh College
of Art, graduating with a First Class Degree in 2007.
